The image of a family as two parents and a child may soon change — a bill in the California State Assembly could allow judges to legally recognize more than two parents. The legislation, which would benefit nontraditional families, has already passed the California Senate and could be sent to the governor's office this month.
Sen. Mark Leno (right) introduced SB 1476 in response to a Court of Appeals decision ruling that courts do not have the authority to recognize more than two parents and the legislature must grant them that ability. That ruling overturned a lower court decision that ruled a family court could recognize, when necessary to protect the best interest of the child, more than two legal parents.

California can't balance their budget, and have many cities in the state on the verge of bankruptcy, but thinks that it knows best and can now re-define what a family is and dictate this to others?
